Mountain-to-Mountain by GR3G0R Mountain-to-Mountain by GR3G0R
This is my first successful digital painting via graphics tablet.
I am very pleased with the outcome, espeicially since my previous 'digital painting' submission was of this orange: [link] ... Masterpiece of course. </sarcasm>

So what can I say? Bill Tiller inspired me to do this :) and some parts of it relate to some of his work, he's awesome.

I used a Wacom Graphire Tablet 3.0 and Photoshop CS2.

(By the way, is it just me or is dA's deviation submission and message centre still in the old layout system?)

This is a pretty cool pic, but the thumbnail is scary. Look at it out the corner of your eye, and it looks like a big eye staring at you, possibly half-covered by black hair a la Sadako. Brrrrr.

wickedly awesome! I know that's not the advanced critique you were after, but I don't know what else to say about it! :bounce:

Thanks :) yeah 'advanced critique' is just something I'd prefer but your comment was already more advanced than the average "cool" or "lol nice" comments I get :D so thanks

It's quite nice, but the small view is hard to appreciate. Do you plan on uploading a larger version at some point?

Well originally I planned for a wider outlook for this scene, with a lantern on the side or something but decided to scrap it and crop it. I don't think I will be adding much more to this picture, but, instead I will make my future landscapes much more... Landscapey

Wow, I like the angle you used here, it's so interesting and makes it look so much better than if you just used a straight on view
This pic makes me want to just...Jump into your picture and see what's making that light in the caverns!
Are tablets better to use than a mouse? I was thinking of buying one but I wanna know if it's worth it XD

Thank you :) :glomp:

Yeah tablets are waaaaaaaaay better than mice (imo anyway) for digipainting. (Although I prefer mice for my 'vector style' art).

It's great. Much easier than mouse, definitely. But it does take a few days to get used to.

I thought they would be, and less time-consuming, I assume? :D
Yeah I have heard it is hard to get used to, but after a while feels like you really are drawing with a pencil, right?
And no probs, it's truely awesome ^0^

I am seriously thinking of getting one, since everyone raves about them. XD Wacom brand ones are apparently the best...

I really like the way this turned out. The cartoon feel really suits the angle of the shot, and just the unusual scene that is set out in front of us makes this piece really fantastic. Great work!
